Hackers steal $81 million from a bank which had cheap routers with no firewall


Sometimes you learn from your mistakes. The central bank of Bangladesh gave us lesson don’t compromised on network security. Hackers attack into the central bank of Bangladesh systems got credentials and send the many requests from New York Federal Reserve Bank to move cash from Bangladesh and transfer the money into Srilanka and Philippines accounts. The bank is lucky hackers made a spelling mistake during transactions type “foundation as “fandation,” which due routing bank asking question to Bangladesh Bank.

If hackers did, t makes this mistake, nearly $1 billion they could have stolen from Bangladesh bank.

During investigation unbelievable information brought up the fact the central bank of Bangladesh used very cheap routers had no firewall, that’s why making very easy for hackers to grab login and steal the money.
